In your mind, you run through a bunch of different ways to ask Fluttershy to homecoming, but nothing good came up.
"Is there something you want to tell me, [your name]?" she asks.
Finally, you give up. "Never mind, it's nothing," you say, as you mentally kick yourself for being so indecisive.
"Oh, okay..." says Fluttershy, sounding a little disappointed. The awkward silence between you two returned, until your phone rings all of a sudden. Fluttershy jumps a little in surprise.
"Hello," you say as you answer the phone.
"Hey, [your name]," says Twilight on the other line. "Dinner's almost ready. Are you done helping out Fluttershy?"
"Yeah, I'm all done here," you say. "I'll be on my way." You then turn to the pegasus next to you. "I've gotta go, Fluttershy," you say to her. "I'll see you around."
"Okay, bye," she says. "Say hi to Spike for me."
As you walk home, you continue to think about how you blew it with Fluttershy. You need to get your shit together. Homecoming is a week from now, and you still haven't asked Fluttershy yet. You weren't really worried about her going with another guy, since you're the only guy her age that she's close to, but you don't want her to be stuck at home with nothing to do on homecoming night when you could've asked her to go with you. You look up, and you see that you were so deep in thought that you reached home without you noticing.
As you eat dinner, Twilight looks at you with a question mark over her head. "Is something the matter, [your name]?" she asks.
"No, it's nothing," you say.
"Are Dumbbell and Hoops picking on you again?" she asks in a tone that reminds you of Auntie Celeste whenever she asked that same question.
"No, I'm just thinking," you say.
Twilight drops the subject and you continue eating. After dinner, you look at the clock. It was six-thirty in the evening, and you think about Fluttershy again. You then come to a realization: the worst thing she can do is say no, so you have nothing to lose. A surge of confidence flows through you, and you decide to go through with asking Fluttershy to homecoming.
