security was not the same as defence, defence would be fighting of dragons or other Vikings when they attacked, security was to know immidiatly when they were under attack as Berk was able to fight of hoards of dragons but often not before they got their claws on the sheep so being able to detect the dragons before they could do any real damage.

immidiatly hiccups head was swarmed with ideas but what to start with?
