Chapter #4
Salem Village (a live pilgrim reenactment)
by: Unknown
Isabel is supposed to meet her friends at the historical reenactment attraction known as Salem Village. Unfortunately, she is running late and her phone doesn’t have enough charge to call them. Isabel just hopes she’s not the only one running late, and that their tour group has not already moved on before she gets there.
Isabel is in such a hurry, she rushes in past the small lobby, she hurdles over the pay turnstiles into the attraction, and right past the signage (plainly stating that any rules infractions while visiting the park are dealt with by subjecting offending patrons to some of the very same punishments as meted out to the witches during the trials held nearly two centuries ago).
But Isabel is looking around and calling out for her friends, whom she can’t locate anywhere. Finally, she is stopped by a pair of park representatives, who take her to a secure room, and show her video footage of herself breaking park rules as soon as she walks in the place. “Well, woop-dee-doo! Send a bill to my house or something, but I really have to catch up with my friends, and this nonsense is really putting me behind.”
But when Isabel attempts to get up to leave, she is shown the fine print, and they then lead her to one of several public scenarios where she will serve as one of the condemned as a way to work off her debt to the park service. “Don’t worry, my dear. You might even manage to run into your friends as they make their way through the park attractions this way!”, she is told by the prim and proper woman with the massive assistant.
