Princess Fina spoke as they got ready to move on, “There is an ancient shrine that I would like to visit on this old map. I want to see if there are any old relics or magical texts there. So can we stop at the shrine?” Fina passed the map to Sir Garrett who examined it for a minute.
Sir Garrett saw no harm in a slight delay to please the woman he loved. With no threat known other than vague rumors he received from King Emeril. The King likely set him to chasing shadows so that he would not be near his daughter. Sir Garrett nodded saying, “I live to serve you Princess Fina. Of course we will see the shrine.”
Albert sighed not liking the idea of getting side tracked by Princess Fina’s whims. He couldn’t understand how this side quest could take priority over one given by King Emeril. Still he would go along with Sir Garrett’s will. Albert felt they were doing a sight seeing tour on the way.
Sir Garrett led his horse with Fina following after and Albert bringing up the rear. The trail shrunk into what once was a foot path now overgrown making it difficult terrain for the horses. Sir Garrett pressed on into the late afternoon. Finally they reached an overgrown temple that contained the shrine inside Sir Garrett figured. The forlorn look of an abandoned temple brought with it a feeling of foreboding. Sir Garrett’s experience told him to take caution signaling to Fina to stay behind him as Albert and him as they approached the sealed stone doors.
