Chapter #3

Travel south alone

    by: bolgerjc Author IconMail Icon
Seras was alone often in her life and taking this trip alone was probably the best idea. The band she had formed was really a loose collection of allies who agreed to not harm each other, but when a wealthy King was involved Seras suspected that all bets were off. Luckily most members disappeared for a few weeks at a time occasionally, so her absence wouldn't be noticed. The only thing that worried her was if anyone had noticed her visiting the King because thieves were notoriously curious and would investigate what her dealings with the King were.

The rumors of abominations in the south were so vague it was tantalizing. Normal villagers weren't exactly very well informed about the things that resided in the world so many times things were placed under one label like a goblin could actually be a kobold, some types of fae, or some type of ghost. If King Emeril was willing to bring one of the most notorious thieves in the land to his castle to hire her to investigate, chances were the enemy was powerful, and where there is power more often than not there is money.

Seras bought an expensive durack, a giant lizard, to use for her travel to the south because they were wonderful in hot climates and would help provide protection if she was attacked. The large teeth and gigantic claws caused many people to prefer horses because they were intimidated by them, but they were normally quite gentle. Seras had paid extra money to get a durack trained to guard and protect its master. The one problem with them was they ate meat which could be hard to find at times in the desert where they were usually free to roam to eat carrion. Thankfully they could gorge on meat and be satisfied for weeks at a time, so Seras fed it until it was full though with the amount of food that went into it Seras thought it should double in size, and she set out for the south wondering what dangers she would meet on her travels.

You have the following choices:

1. Gnoll slavers

2. Seras is being followed

3. A Roc!
