"Work has been pretty stressful recently, so if we really could swap anything, that's what I would want to swap," Miranda went on to explain.
"Okay," said Evan. "Let's give it a try." He focused on making the swap and after a few seconds it felt like something had happened even though he didn't feel all that different.
"Well did it work?" Miranda asked with a laugh.
"I don't know," Evan told her. "It felt like something happened, but I can't tell. I think we should try something more obvious."
"Like what?" Miranda asked.
"Well, since we swapped occupations, let's try swapping our knowledge of our occupations so we can actually do them," said Evan.
"Alright," said Miranda. "We'll try one more time."
Evan focused on swapping again and, suddenly, he felt a rush of information in his brain.
"Whoa..." said Evan, feeling the knowledge of his mother's fourth grade class flowing through is brain.
"Well I guess it works after all," said an equally surprised Miranda.
"So now what?" asked Evan.
"Want to try going through our day like this?" Miranda asked. "I could use a break from work and I can tell you could use a break from school."
"Sure," said Evan. "But I'm probably not dressed like a teacher right now, and you are definitely dressed up too nicely to be a student."
"Well there's not a whole lot of time to change," said Miranda.
"There's still time if we hurry," said Evan.
"Or we could just use the little power of yours to do a quick switch," Miranda suggested.
"You know..." said Evan. "Because of this whole swapping thing I don't think anyone would find it strange that we are dressed the way we are."
"Do you really want to take that chance?" Miranda asked.
