Steven, Jason and Julie

by: Mr. Scratch Author IconMail Icon
Steven, Jason and Julie were 16 year old teenagers and were looking through a garage sale. The house were the sale was held looked old and creepy. Never the less, there were many antique things. Most of them were garbage but it did not hurt to look. The three had nothing else to do anyway.

"Look at that.", said Steven and pointed out to a small figure of an owl, made out of wood. "This looks creepy...", shuddered Julie and turned away. "It looks like it's going to attack me.".

"You think so? I think it looks kinda nice.", replied Jason and took the figure in his hand. "Look, it likes you.", he said grinning and brought the figure near Julie's face who instantly stepped away.

"JASON!", she screamed. "I really could punch you in the face sometimes!". With these words she turned around and got over to Steven who already turned his attention to another item.

"What are you looking at?", she asked him curiously. He pointed to a box positioned on a table. "This thing.", he said. "It looks strange... It makes me feel strange... I don't know... But I somehow get the feeling that it is calling out to me. Maybe I should be it?".

Julie looked closer at the box. "I can't see anything strange... Looks like a normal box with a creepy images on it. But it looks nicer than the owl figure over there.".

Steven grinned at his friend. "I don't think so. You only see it that way because you're afraid of owls.".

Julie shook her head hysterically. "Absolutely not! Owls are just horrible being which should all be killed!".

Steven laughed. "If you say so... Well, I guess I'll buy this box. Can't hurt to look in it later, right?".

"Why not open it now?", asked Jason who had put the owl figure down and was now standing behind his two friends and looked at the box just as curious.

"It's locked, duh.", replied Steven and pointed at a lock at the front of the box. "And unless you want to break it open and get in trouble, I'll have to buy it.".

With that, Steven went to the old man who did the garage sale and bought the box for 5$ and got the key with which he could open the box. He looked strange at Steven but did not say anything. Steven thought nothing of it and left the garage sale with his friends.

At home, the three friends were sitting on the ground and were looking at the box.

"Open it, Steven.", said Jason impatiently. Julie nodded in agreement.

Steven took the key, his breath got heavier. He had no idea why. Slowly he opened the box and the friends saw it's content. Cards. Curious, Steven took the cards out of the box.
