Chapter #4

You hear mom coming upstairs to see you!

    by: Unknown
Your mother came upstairs, and you heart raced. What the hell would you do now? Luckily, she stopped at your closed door. “Honey, I’m going out to get more groceries. I’ll even get you some unbaked cookie dough ‘cause I know you like the stuff, but don’t eat any of it ‘till you feel better; you get some rest, and I’ll be back soon,” she said, and you heard her walk away and leave the house. Thankfully, she hadn’t actually asked you any questions, as clearly hearing her own voice respond might have freaked her a bit.

“John Wallace, come here this instant!” John said to himself before the mirror, doing a perfect impression of an irritated version of his mother; he’d sounded just as she did when she got angry with him. He laughed profusely at this, “This is AWESOME!” he exclaimed. Suddenly, the phone rang. John immediately started to go for the phone, then stopped short, reminded of his unusual state. “Well…they’ll just think I’m Mom…I guess,” he assured himself as he picked up the phone.

“Hello?” he said in his feminine voice. “Hello Ms. Wallace, Jane Pinkerton here, John’s chemistry teacher; how are you this afternoon?” Your spirits sank quickly. See, you were certainly a smart guy, but you’d no mind for chemistry at all, and this showed in chemistry class. Mrs. Jane Pinkerton was your teacher…a truly stunning woman with long black hair and a wonderfully toned body complete with mind-numbingly impressive cleavage usually encased in a very thin button-down blouse. The guys in school loved her provided they were not in her class, as she was a very nice person but a tough grader. This posed a problem since most of the male eyes in the class were focused on the wonderfully bouncy chest of the 35-years old Jane Pinkerton rather than on the chemistry material she tried to teach. For you, she posed a problem because any bad report grade-wise from her would result in your mother’s saying you could not run track any more.

“Ah…I’m…I’m fine, and you?” you stammered, wondering what on earth she’d be calling about. “Splendid,” Pinkerton answered, “I’ve called you to talk to your about your son. He’s struggling in my class, and I’d like to speak with you in person about it if I may. The only time that works for me this week is Monday morning at about 8 o’clock, just before my first class starts. Is that something you’re amenable to?” Your mind raced. You could say no, and maybe that’d postpone judgment a little, but if she called back and your real mom answered, you’d be equally screwed! There was no way your mom could find out about this, at least unless you were in a position to control the situation.

“Um…yes…yes I think that will work fine,” you said, mostly because it was the least bad option you had. “Great, see you bright and early on Monday, Ms. Wallace; bye now,” Pinkerton said, and she hung up the phone.

“Shit!” you exclaimed, realizing what you’d gotten yourself into. Your mom now had an appointment with Jane Pinkerton at 8 Monday morning. If mom didn’t show up, Pinkerton would just call again until she did. At the same time, nothing about school trouble could make its way to your mom; you’d be unable to do track! The only way out of this was the spellbook, but today was Saturday, so you had only the rest of today and tomorrow to find a spell that could help you. You ran to the book and threw it open in search of a solution. A new spell had appeared.

1) It said something about putting on a guise of some kind, temporarily.
2) The spell made people more open to your suggestions.
3) The spell mentioned controlling someone but was not especially clear on how.

You have the following choices:

1. Put on a temporary guise.

*Noteb*
2. The power of suggestion.

*Noteb*
3. Control somebody...somehow.

*Noteb* indicates the next chapter needs to be written.
