After putting the groceries away, Krystal popped her some popcorn and lay on the big couch munching away and watching the wildlife out in the yard and trees. Several rabbits hopped around and birds flitted around among the trees at the forest edge. She watched the rabbits as they froze and listened to something and the birds flew away to hide. She sat up and strained to see something, but pretty soon the rabbits relaxed and hopped away. She finished the popcorn and grabbed a fresh peach to eat.
She decided to get started on her novel right away, why the summer would be gone before she knew it! She climbed the stairs to the bedroom and set her laptop up on the desk. She wrote her cover page and started on the first chapter. Things were going pretty good, when she began to get very sleepy. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a strange beam of light over the top of the forest, then another, then another. She'd never seen anything like it. She had to get a closer look at this, and she half stumbled down the stairs.
She stood on the back deck, marveling at the lights that had now took on strange colors, colors she had never seen before. They were drawing her to them and she felt the cool grass beneath her feet as she headed for the treeline. She was at the forest edge now, begginning to fight the tree limbs and find the strange lights when something or someone grabbed her by the arm and swung her around!
