Like the greatest of gluttons from the time of Caligula but unlike the starving French poor before the revolution, Jennifer tucked into her cake.

The first slice went down easily enough but by the second she was glancing around at the expressions. There was the gym teacher Ms. Knight, looking like she'd rather be anywhere else but here, her hands trying their best to cover up the fat belly she was sporting. Ms. Flatterly was all smiles as she watched Jennifer bring the first bite of the second slice up to her lips. But it was the obese principal that caught her gaze the longest. There was something both welcoming and a bit frightening in those two dark eyes of hers. Still, as she ate more of the cake and watched Ms. Polluck again, she chalked it up to her own nerves.

Of course she would be nervous. She had to do this in front of the whole staff.

By the seventh slice things are looking bad for her stomach.

It's taut to the touch, bulging outwards and causing her shirt to ride up.

I'm pregnant with cake, is all Jennifer can think as she finishes the next two slices quickly. She can't slow down or else she would never finish.

Somehow, she manages to finish the cake without exploding and most of the staff cheers. By this point, Ms. Knight has left but the rest are bustling around her. She feels a hand on her stomach and notices Ms. Polluck's beaming face.

"I think you're going to fit in wonderfully here, dearie. You finished that cake so well!"

"T-thank you," Jennifer replied, fearing a belch would let loose if she talked any further.

"Can you make it to your cabin or do you need someone to help you?"
