... And immediately regretted using the window. The moment he pulled the window upwards an alarm started blaring through the building! The window must have had a sensor on it to tell when it was opened after hours!
Cursing under his breath, Rich quickly clamored his way out of the window and onto the ground below. Already he could feel that he had been slowed down considerably by his new 5’10” size. It wasn’t so much that his larger size made him slower, but the fact that all of his clothes were now a bit too small were causing them to pull tight at all the joints and restricting his range of movement. Despite this he struggled on to dash down the side of the building, heading for the residential street behind the university.
Unfortunately for Rich, by the time he got to the end of the alley between the two buildings, he could hear the crackle of a radio and see a flashlight sweeping across the grass ahead. The campus security had already caught up with him, looking for whoever set off the alarm. The raccoon’s tail whipped around him as he pulled a quick 180 on his heels and started to run back in the other direction. He reasoned that everyone would expect him to be heading for the nearest escape from the campus, so no one would expect him to run deeper onto university grounds. With that thought in mind he made a B line for the mostly unlit quad in the middle of campus.
By the time he got to the middle of the quad he already knew he had screwed up. He could see flashing blue and red lights lining the edge of the campus, blocking off that exit. Behind him the campus security was sweeping in from between the various campus buildings.
He was trapped
Glancing back and forth between his two blocked escape routes, he tried to think of a way to get out of this. He couldn’t run, Fighting was never an option and he certainly wasn’t going to turn himself in. Then, an idea struck him. Tentatively the raccoon reached back behind him, shirt stretching across his chest from the movement of his arm and torso, and wrapped his fingers around the handle of the size ray. When normal plans don’t work, it’s time to get creative…
