Your too scared to approach Maria directly and you're not sure if she remembers you as fondly as you do with her. You didn't want to ask her to swap because you didn't know what her answer would be. You knew it was wrong but six years ago she likely would've agreed, after all she allowed you to use your original hypnotic devices on her. So you decided, you would use the core on her at an opportune moment and see where things would go from there.
Your bedroom overlooked Maria's backyard, so you waited patiently for Maria to take the clothes off the line. Since she was back she was required to do all the household chores, well at least the ones she is capable of. Since her parents were the ones that paid for college and they begrudgingly let her back into the house, for the sake of their grandchild, she was expected to pay them back. Even though she was in her mid-twenties she was being treated like a teenager, a life style that would suit you just fine, especially since school wasn't required as well.
You watched carefully from your window as Maria took the clothes off the line. You did think about swapping with her as soon as she started but you didn't want to do that job. So you waited, though Maria did catch you looking at least once, maybe even a second time. You waited for her to start heading back inside when you aimed the core at her head and pressed the button.
You blinked as you held the laundry basket in your arms, and saw hair in your peripheral vision. You felt the strange weight on your chest as a wire dug into your back and on your shoulders. You also felt the weight in your belly while noticing a more flat feeling in your crotch. Your body swapping machine had worked remotely, you were now in Maria's body and you assumed she was in yours.
You turned to face your bedroom window to see how Maria was reacting to what you did, there was no hiding it after all, the device was now in her hands.
