guardian of the human race

You just gaze into the pond and see a mirror image of yourself gaze back. All of your features are there, long brown hair, small rounded nose, deep blue eyes and your well rounded face. On your back sits a long broadsword with a brown, leathered hilt. Looking down you see your silver plated chain mail armour covering your brown tunic underneath.

Turning away from the pond, you look up to see an array of birds flying in a perfect formation overhead. Whilst you stare in awe at the birds you suddenly become aware of a nearby bush rustling. You turn your sharp gaze towards the bush and see it rustle again. Slowly and steadily, you begin taking steps towards the small green berry bush. As you slowly stride towards the bush it grows calm and becomes stationary once again. You kneel down beside the small flora, pull apart the leaves carefully and peer inside only to have your eyes met by...
