Cameron took a deep breath as he stepped into Anna’s room, trying to be as quiet as possible. His heart pounded in his chest as he clutched the white panties in his hand, just wanting to drop them off and leave before anyone noticed.
Unfortunately, Anna was already inside. She turned from her dresser, eyes locking onto him. Then, her gaze dropped to his hand, and her expression instantly twisted into disgust.
"Cam? What the hell?!" she practically shouted. "Are you seriously stealing my underwear? That is so gross!"
Panic flooded Cameron’s brain. "No! No, no, no! It’s not what it looks like!" he stammered, holding up his hands as if that would somehow erase the situation. "I swear, I just found them in my laundry by accident, and I was just trying to return them. That’s all!"
Anna crossed her arms, still looking completely unconvinced. "Oh yeah? And you just decided to sneak into my room to do it? That’s beyond creepy."
Cameron swallowed hard, his face burning with shame. This was bad. He had to say something—anything—that would make her believe him.
"I know how this looks, but you have to believe me. It’s not—it’s not like that!" He took a shaky breath before dropping his voice to a near whisper. "The truth is... I don’t really know how to explain it, but lately I’ve been kind of... wondering what it would be like to be a girl. Not like, all the time, but just... sometimes. I wasn’t trying to be creepy. I was just... curious."
Anna’s anger wavered slightly, replaced with confusion. "What are you talking about?"
Cameron hesitated, but he’d already started down this road. He clenched his fists, forcing himself to continue. "I don’t know. It’s just something I’ve been thinking about. Like... what if I had been born a girl? What would that feel like? And when I saw these, I just— I just wondered."
Anna’s expression softened, the hostility in her posture melting away. She was silent for a moment, then let out a long sigh. "Jesus, Cam... why didn’t you just tell me?"
Cameron shrugged helplessly. "I didn’t know how. I still don’t."
Anna stared at him for a long moment before finally shaking her head. "Okay. Just... next time, maybe don’t sneak around like a weirdo. And if you ever want to talk, I’m here."
Relief flooded through Cameron, and he nodded, a small but genuine smile forming on his lips. "Thanks, Anna." indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
