"...I'm sorry. The number you have reached is no longer available. Please hang up and dail-".
Helen ended the call, "No longer available?" Helen pinched the note between her fingers and read it again. Seems like it was written recently, given the lightly smudged ink and the fresh taste of the cupcake. "I better get to the bottom of this." She said, gathering the feeling of suspicion and the need of donning her superhero alter ego.
By cross-referencing the phone-number via a simple internet search, Helen found both the name of the manufacturer and the location.
Joy Confections Bakery. Just on the outskirts of Metroville.
With that information, Helen grabs her car keys, a duffel bag containing her super suit, and a note on the fridge informing the family that she'll be out for the day. On the road, Helen kept a stern look on her face. Her mind constantly battled agaisnt her consiocs.
What's really the reason I'm coming here? Is it because I want more cupcakes? Or is it to solve the mystery of the factory? Maybe it's both.
The thoughts in her mind hadn't subsided by the time the tires stopped in front of the building. Among the outskirts of Metroville, this lone factory was the only landmark for miles. To answer one question, the outside of the building felt quiet and desolate. Indications of life are completely absent save for the trash blowing around the property. The neon sign reading 'Joy Confections Bakery' appeared to have been collecting dust for ages. There's little doubt that it's been years since it was last switched on.
However, the smell of fresh baked sweets remained in the air. Creating a pleasant, mouth watering aroma that clashes with the deserted environment. Either the air is like that from years of baking the factory has done or someone is still in there, crafting confections in secret. Despite the conflicting feelings inside, Helen desperately wanted to explore the factory.
Up above, a large open window pane became the point of entry. Helen stretched her arms onto the sill and pulled herself up where she vaulted over and landed right onto the factory floor where she discovered...
