| The strange gem was of Draconic origin, and was cursed to turn whoever touched it into a dragon hybrid. |
As he swam to the surface, Richard couldn't help but stare at the gem the whole time. It was a beautiful shade of green, and it was so shiny, it was like he was looking at the stars.
He couldn't just leave it there! He had to bring it back and show it to everyone!
Diving back beneath the surface, Richard swam back towards the gem, and reached for it. However, when he just managed to grasp it, the gem suddenly started to glow. It's radiance was so bright, that Richard had to close his eyes, lest he damage them.
The gem glowed for a few seconds, before the light died down, taking itself with it. So when he finally opened his eyes, a very confused Richard looked around for the gem frantically. Eventually, he realized that he had never let go of the jewel and therefore never dropped it in the first place.
Before he could ponder what that entailed to, Richard felt a strange feeling in his chest, causing him to pause his thoughts.
It felt... good.
Suddenly, the strange feeling spread through his body, intensifying as it reach the corners of his limbs. Richards bit back a cry as his body started spasming from sheer pleasure. It felt so good, that Richard stopped thinking, his mind dulled by the heavenly feeling.
However, as Richard lingered in heaven, his body slowly started changing.
Green scales as tough as steel, started to grow from his toes and fingers, spreading all the way to his forearms and knees respectively. Razor sharp claws made of deep black keratin replaced his round fingernails, and long black talons grew from his toenails, shredding through his socks and shoes like wet paper.
Additional scales grew from his back, before expanding across his body. They spread to his neck, cutting off at his chin and cheeks, and just below his pelvis

A large scaly tail slowly emerged from his back, formed by his now elongated spine and covered in under-armor that stopped at his pelvis

A ridge of many dark green, small spikes stretched from his back all the way to his new tail, just above his spine. His teeth fell out one by one, replaced by rows of sharp teeth and fangs.
Two large horns as dark as the night, emerged from either side of his head, his ears grew longer and became scaley and webby. His golden blond hair grew longer, wilder, and a darker shade too. His eyes grew slightly larger, his sclera

By this point Richard was no longer human, he was now a half-dragon hybrid, and his transformation was almost complete. All dragons must be big, and so, Richard grew.
His body grew bigger, and clothes started tearing away. His weight slowly increased, until it forced him to the bottom of the pond. At this point, Richard was at least three times his original size , now forced to his knees as his neck rose above the water.
But he wasn't done growing yet...
His toes dug into the cool soft mud, digging deeper into the ground with every extra pound he gained from his growth. All that was left of Richard's clothes were now wet rags stuck to his scales and bare human skin.
Finally, his body stopped growing.
Now standing at a mere 27 feet tall, Richard's body had one final change to undergo; his shoulder blades stretched, until they grew from his back and slowly turned into scaly wings. Now done transforming, Richard's mind returned to his body, and with it, a surge of new instincts.
Richard faced the storm and let out a powerful roar.
He wasn't a little human boy anymore; he was giant, powerful dragon.
And the world was now his to conquer.
