David moved past the Bear Cub to the Puma. Though he was a bit shorter than the two, it didn't make him any less Giant. From his position by the wall, and out in the open, David couldn't help but feel exposed. If either one of them glanced in his direction he was certain they'd spot him easily. Fortunately for him, the attention of both cubs centered on the checkered board.
David noted the antique look of the board with it's wooden pieces rather than the plastic red and black he was familiar with. It wasn't just the Checkered board either. Their clothes, the look of the furniture, the oil lamp. They all pointed to a pioneer time period or something along those lines. How could reading such simple words from a book send him here? Not that he had any reason to complain mind you. How often does one have a front row seat to the checkered match of Titans?
Speaking of which, David couldn't help but notice the broad padded paws of the Puma Cub. He couldn't help not to look, it was almost second nature. He concluded they could do a lot of Damage. 300 foot tall Anthropomorphic puma cub vs five foot eight human equals red stain on a paw pad.
Course, David's priorities were not what they should've been. Instead of looking at paws he should've been keeping a close eye on the puma's tail which was now beginning to sway back and forth as the cub began to concentrate on the game. He was completely caught off guard as he was struck by the tail in one such quick flick. The blow, while surprisingly didn't hurt him sent him flying upward in an arch.
