Even before arriving at the royal palace, you were already feeling significantly nervous, and for a few good reasons. First of all, even showing up placed you in at a great risk. A person with a dangerous secret really ought not to go placing themselves anywhere near the three wisest and most likely people to figure it out. But, it really wasn't like you had a choice in the matter, as denying a request from royalty would probably be even more dangerous fou you, given the amount of suspicion it would place on you.
Secondly, you were nervous about the exceptionally convoluted instructions that were delivered to you: "Arrive and stand six yards, two inches, nine centimeters, and three feet away from the southernmost rosebush along the castle at thirty-six seconds past noon a week from two days before this was written."
Lastly, you knew that you were well past the time that you were asked to arrive. It really wasn't your fault, given that you had gotten the letter three days after it was written while you were on the very outskirts of the kingdom. It was actually a feat within itself that you managed to make the trip back to the center of the kingdom in just over two days when it took one of the fastest messengers more than three. Never-the-less, you were late, and unsure of yourself and your situation.
To make matters worse, was what you realized upon your arrival. Upon reaching the castle's southern wall, you noticed a straight line of rosebushes, running east to west, directly alongside of it. As such, you felt forced to figure out exactly which bush was the southernmost, and where exactly you were supposed to stand away from it, making you even later than you already were. Eventually, you pick out a spot to stand, and simply wait there for a good while, all the while wondering whether you were in tne right spot, of if you just showed up too late.
After a but longer, you sigh in defeat, and walk over to the eastern side of the castle where the entrance is. The two guards in front of it, whom you had noticed glancing at you consistently while you were shuffling around earlier, glance at each other for a moment with smug grins on their faces before turning to you. You explain your situation to them, and even show them the letter that you had received, before they stand apart and permit your entry inside. You're certain that you heard quite a bit of snickering as you walked inside, though....
