James woke up, feeling the warmth of the rising sun on his face. He moaned and allowed his eyes to flicker open, only to remember his experience in the alley. Fearful, he bolted up right and began to examine himself. To his relief, he was unharmed but, to his confusion, he was wearing only his boxers. "Where am I?" whispering, the asked.
He looked around to find himself in a barren bedroom. Across from the bed he was in was a dresser in the corner with a small television and radio resting on top. To the right of it was a door to a small washroom with a shower and, on the other wall was a door, he presumed to be the only way out. Behind him was a small window, allowing a small summer breeze. Looking at all, James recognized it at his family's summer home in the country. "How did I get here?" groggily, James muttered. "Last I knew I was in the city."
James rolled out of the bed and spotted a note on the nightstand, next to his cellphone and a set of car keys. Curious, he took the note and opened it up. It was a typed message that stated... 'You are healed but not completely, we left you here to rest. A rental car is outside, return home when you feel ready. If you change, you will know what to do. -Myrrh.'
"What the..." confused, James asked, reading the cryptic message. "Who the hell is this Myrrh?"
Then he again thought of the incident ion the alley and began to wonder. "How surreal can it get?" bemused, he asked. "Was it all a dream? It felt real and... this note...."
James paused to scratch his back, feeling a bad itch coming on and decided to take a shower so to tackle this new mystery with a refreshed mind and body. "There has to be a logical explanation to all of this." striping down, he said to himself. "Maybe my college buddies playing a prank on me."
Unknown to him, as he stepped into the shower, two hard lumps had formed just under his shoulder blades....
