As Alex set her sights on Pam and Mark she didn't notice that Becca and John were exiting the dorms about a hundred feet behind her.
John was frantically scanning the ground all over the place, looking for something. Becca led him to the area below her window which was near the coffee shop seating.
"Tell me again, what did it look like?" John asked somewhat frantically.
"I don't know. It was gold, but not pretty. Kinda dirty. I think it had a dent on one side." Becca said.
After John had crashed into Becca while carrying Chad and Clem he had come to his senses. He realized that he had just been carrying two nearly three hundred pound football players in the air with little to no trouble. That shouldn't have been possible. Then he noticed that his shirt was extra tight and, in a few places, ripping open from the strain of his muscles. Muscles that were now clearly larger than they'd been minutes earlier. He had flexed his right arm and watched with a mix of confusion and glee as his sleeve tore apart around his giant bicep.
"Whoa! What the hell happened to me?" he'd said.
Becca had simply stared at John's new body for a moment before the answer came to her. "It must have been the ring."
"What ring?" John was now pumping his arm in and out, fascinated by the motion and expansion taking place beneath his skin.
"It said it could do anything I wanted. I remember thinking that I wanted you to be stronger than Chad, then you were." Becca stood up and looked out the window.
"That's not-" John was about to point out the impossible nature of what Becca was describing, the looked at his beefed up chest and shoulders and realized that no matter how insane it sounded he was clearly stronger than Chad now. He was probably stronger than anyone else on campus now, and if there was some ring that could give him more he needed to have it. "Where is it? Can I see it?"
"I think it flew out the window when you crashed into me."
"Come on!" John grabbed Becca by and hand and yanked her down the hall leaving Chad and Clem behind to nurse their wounds.
Now John was searching through the bushes outside the dorm while Becca scanned the ground and the tables. Then she spotted it, it had to be the right one! It was dingy and dented just like she'd remembered. Some plain looking girl was wearing it.
"John! There it is, on that girl's hand!"
John turned and lunged at the girl Becca was pointing at. He grabbed her by the wrist and held her up.
"What are you doing?" Alex yelled. John gripped the ring and began sliding it off of her finger. "That's my ring!!" She clenched her fist to keep John from taking it, but he was very strong and quickly prying her fingers open again.
"No, it's my ring!!" Becca yelled in Alex's face. "I want it back."
"Ladies," John said, "I think I'm going to have to claim this as mine."
