You gulped at the sight- out of all of the villains in the books, Cluny the Scourge had been one of the most cunning foes that Redwall had faced. Even Matthias had been unable to best him in battle- his slaying had only come because of the Joseph Bell falling on top of him. Cluny had used many strategies during his siege of the Abbey- tower, tunneling, battering ram, and a few more. In the end, it had taken the capture of a dormouse's family to provide him with the means of entering the place, when the head of the family was forced to betray Redwall in an attempt to rescue them.
Cluny then began to walk among the various vermin, swishing his long, and barbed, tail. "Well, it seems some of you once followed me," he said as he stopped in front of one particular rat. "Ah Redtooth, my old friend. Been a while since water's passed between us."
"That it has Chief," the rat said with a slight smile.
"Would you like your old job back?" Cluny asked.
"If you'll have me," Redtooth said, with a slight bow. "I promise to serve you as faithfully as I did before my previous death by that mangy cat, Ungatt Trunn."
"Good," Cluny said, clasping a paw on Redtooth's shoulder. "Go inside- I'm sure some of the others will recognize you from before. If not, you know what to do."
"Yes sir," Redtooth said as he straightened up. He then marched into the church. Sounds of fighting soon entered your ears.
