The Raiders didn't give up

The group walked through the opening into a main lobby area. Lights buzzed softly above them, revealing a rack of strange mechanical devices, each with a small blank screen as well as another terminal. Daniel picked one up and looked it over.

“Jerry, you know about vault stuff, what is this?” Daniel asked.

“Those things are called pip-boys. Wrist mounted pre-war technology. We can bag them after we take care of...” Jerry said before pausing.

“What is it Jerry?” Samuel asked, worried.

Jerry quickly walked back to the entrance and looked out into the cavern. Hanging from the hole in the roof of the cavern were figures dangling from rope.

“Shit! The raiders! Danny, get this door closed!” Jerry commanded.
Daniel dashed to the terminal and furiously typed away at the keys while Jerry inspected his gun. He shook his head at the useless peace of metal and wood. If Daniel didn't get that door closed, then their bad luck would finally catch up with them.

One by one, raiders gathered at the bottom of the whole until they felt they had enough to start searching for the scavengers.

“They're coming, oh shit,” Sam said nervously.

“Shut up, I need to concentrate!” Daniel yelled.

Daniel's voice carried throughout the cavern, alerting the raiders that they were inside the vault opening. Jerry's hands were in tight fists, his knuckles turning white as the raiders got closer.

“Come on,” Sam urged.

“Fuck off!” Daniel spat in frustration.

Samuel could more than hold his own, even without a weapon, and Jerry wasn't a stranger to a brawl either but the numbers were too against them. Just when it looked like they were done for, the sirens sounded once again followed by the grinding of metal.

“Hell yeah!” yelled out Daniel, his hands shaking.

Just before a raider could get close enough to be a problem, the doors closed. The scavengers were sealed inside.
