Not bothering to wash up their plates they leave the kitchen and begin their search for the heating room or boiler. Feeling better with full stomachs raises their spirits and Adam begins teasing Evan for his clothes as they search.
"You really do have the right butt for those jeans. Shame I ain't trapped down here with a real girl."
"She'd have chosen to freeze to death outside than risk getting stuck with." Evan responds.
"And yet here she is" Adam points at Evan.
"Your a right comedic genius aren't you?"
"I just use what you give me"
This is how the conversation goes as they explore the shelter. Evan does appreciate the softness of the panties and the leggings as he moves however but that is something he would never admit to Adam.
The shelter itself is relatively large with two main corridors either side of the big room they slept in last night and each corridor has between ten to twelve rooms on each side. Finally they find a room that looks promising as it has a lighting bolt hitting an apple stenciled on the door. Again this door opens easily and reveals what looks to be the shelters control room. There are dozens of screens and panels which fill the room with a faint hum.
Adam whistles appreciatively. "I'll try that panel over there" he says pointing to one of the monitors.
"I'll try this one I suppose" Evan says.
They both go to their terminal and try to make sense of all the buttons and symbols. Evan's screen turns out to be a radio set and he immediately tries all the channels to see if he can find anyone to contact. Suddenly the whole shelter shudders slightly something far away begins to hum.
"I think we are in business" Adam says. "I've just restored power to the boiler. Apparently we now have heating and also hot water to shower facilities too, wherever they they might be."
"I think I have a radio work station, just need to find a broadcasting channel. "Still twiddling the channel dial absentmindedly, Evan stumbles upon an active channel. He grabs the mic and begins talking.
"Umm Hello can you hear me, my friend and I are stuck in an underground bunker can anyone help?"
"This is lieutenant Jones of the national guard, I read you. What is your location?" Adam runs over and grins broadly.
Evan gives the lieutenant their general position, their names and their food situation.
"I'm sorry to say this fellas but you won't be out of there earlier than a week. The storms pretty bad and you are too far out. If you were in immediate danger of starvation or freezing we would send a squad to dig you out but there are just other people who need help more."
Adam and Evan both feel like they have been hit in the stomach.
"We will keep in contact on this channel and keep us informed of your situation. Hold tight guys, lieutenant Jones out." The radio becomes silent and the two friends just look at each other in disbelief.
"A week at least! What the hell are we going to do?" Adam groans.
Evan just remains silent and shakes his head. They both stand there in silence again until Adam suddenly marches out of the room.
"Where are you going?" Evan yells, running after him.
"We might as well start exploring again. We've got to fill the time somehow."
