This choice: Follow Melody as she goes home to Jeremy's life • Go Back... Melody went home happily after playing with what were probably her friends now. At least she guessed they were. “I wonder why Jeremy had to go home and not me…”, she thought. “And Cindy had called him ‘young lady’. We didn’t swap anything, did we?”. She could not come up with a possible solution. The friends had not found out about the two minutes limit so far. “Maybe I should talk to Jeremy about this. Perhaps he found out something while being at home.”.
Melody really enjoyed being outside alone at this time. Her parents would have never allowed it but suddenly it seemed as if everything was fine with that. “I could get used to this.”, she smiled and soon arrived her home.
She entered the house with the key she had in her purse. “I’m home.”, she called out while taking off her shoes. Her mother came out of the kitchen to greet her. “That’s nice.”, she smiled. “Did you have fun?”. Melody nodded.
“Yeah it was real fun. Too bad it’s already over.”, she admitted and went over to the stairs. “Anyway, I’m upstairs.”.
Melody then headed upstairs. Normally she would have chatted with her mother more but right now she was too interested to see if Jeremy had found anything out. Melody was surprised to see her brother sitting on her bed.
“Hey, Jeremy. What are you doing in my room?”, she asked him and received a big sigh from him.
“It’s not your room anymore.”, he explained. “It seems as if I have taken over your life or something. Michael’s dad was treating me like some little girl. The same goes for mom and dad. They think I’m their daughter. At first I couldn’t believe it but then I inspected what should be your room. It looks mostly the same but look closer.”.
Melody did what her brother told her to do and looked around her room. Everything looked normal. There were still the pink walls, her bed with the pink bed sheets and fluffy pillows, also her stuffed animals were where they belonged.
“I can’t see any difference.”, she told her brother while looking at the poster of various boy bands on her wall. Everything was like it was this morning.
“Look closer.”.
Melody continued. She went over to her wardrobe and stopped there. She normally left one door slightly open, so she can access it faster. Now the door was closed. Curious she opened it and was astonished about what she found in there.
Instead of her normal clothes there were now Jeremy’s clothes in there. Except for the school uniform which was still the girl’s uniform of her school.
“You exchanged everything to play a prank on me, didn’t you?”, she asked disbelievingly and looked into her brother’s face. She knew that he did not.
Jeremy shook his head. “No. Sadly I did not. Go over to your desk and look at your homework.”.
Melody went slowly over there. She looked at aforementioned homework and gasped. While the text was still the same, the handwriting had changed. She recognized it as Jeremy’s. Also the name on it had changed to Jeremy’s.
“Unbelievable!”, she gasped. “So, everyone really thinks you’re me. I had suspected it but couldn’t believe it. But how? We hadn’t swapped anything.”.
“I know. I’ve been thinking about it for quite a while.”, he said and stroke absentmindedly across his now smooth feminine legs. “Maybe there really is a catch. I mean, it’s quite strange that the cards allow you to swap but don’t force you. Maybe we have to swap.”.
“But we didn’t.”, replied Melody.
“I know.”, nodded Jeremy. “But remember when I wanted to swap attitude with Anna but nothing had happened? Maybe, just maybe, there is a time limit. I mean why else should nothing had happened. I mean look at our situation right now!”.
Melody nodded. Everything her brother told her made sense. “I guess you’re right. So… Until we can swap back, I’m stuck with being you.”.
“Yeah.”, sighed Jeremy. “And I’m you. At least our first names stayed the same but still. Let’s just hope the following days won’t be too awkward.”.
“That makes me think…”. Melody crossed her arms and cocked her head to one side. “If we HAVE to swap… Anna neglected to swap, right? So what had been swapped then?”.
Jeremy shrugged his shoulders. “No idea. But I guess it was nothing physical and probably had nothing to do with us. I mean if we were in for the swap, we would have noticed by now, right?”.
Melody agreed.
“Jeremy. It’s time for bed!”, called out a familiar voice, the two recognized as their mothers. Jeremy sighed out loud.
“It sucks. Now I have to go to bed soon. My own mom tells me again when I have to go to bed. I mean, I’m 13 years old now and she still tells me when to go to bed.”.
Melody smiled. “It’s not that bad. Also you know how mom is.”.
“Yeah, right.”, he sighed and got up from his girly bed. “Well, I’ll brush my teeth then.”.
Melody left her former room together with her brother and then headed over to what was now her room. She smiled when she looked around. The room did not look as nice as her own but it was bigger.
She looked at the trophies Jeremy had gathered over the course of his life and at the sport posters in his room.
“This will be weird but I think I’ll have fun.”, smiled Melody and threw herself on the bed. indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
