kate lives about three blocks away-so you better get a move on. the quicker the better. so you decide to take the direct approach-cutting across yards and avoiding the streets where you might be seen.
things were going good, you were undetected until you reached the last house. all you had to do was hop one more fence and you were in kate's back yard. suddenly, you hear a voice behind you.
"who are you?" it is a woman's voice-adult, no doubt. you are frozen for a moment.
"well, you little brat. i asked you a question!" she is definitely closer. perhaps even right behind you.
" this is the last time. i will call the cops if you don't..."
