The evening continued after they got back home. They both sat and watched TV while Taiga grazed on snacks, barely noticing how much she was eating. After a while of this the couple went to bed, Taiga settled in to sleep while finally focusing on how full she felt. It was strangely comforting to her, as though she were finally safe and warm.
In the early hours of the morning she woke to the sound of a low rumbling. She realised with a start that it was her stomach rumbling. She had digested her feast and was hungry again. She glared at her boyfriend, still fast asleep next to her.
"That moron, if he had cooked enough food I wouldn't have filled up on empty calories. It's his fault I'm awake now", she thought to herself. She decided however not to wake him up, rationalising this choice as not wanting to hear him moan more about her appetite. The girl slowly got out of bed and made her way over to the bathroom, leaving Ryuji to sleep on.
Taiga looked at her reflection in the mirror. She looked tired, her long brown hair a mess from sleep. She looked at her body and grimaced as she saw her bloated stomach sticking out past her minuscule breasts. There were times where she hated her body, this small and bony thing had led to endless teasing from her peers. She frowned further when her stomach growled again, harder than before. Being this hungry was just annoying her more. She growled and pointed at her reflection.
"Fine, I'll get you a little snack" she muttered to herself. She padded into the kitchen and grabbed some cereal out of the pantry. She opened the refrigerator and pulled out a carton of milk. Pouring the entire box into a large bowl, she began to eat. After finishing the cereal her stomach was still growling, and the girl began to get more annoyed.
"Fine, I'll get you something good" she said to herself and grabbed a can of pork and beans. She quickly prepared the caned food and began to eat, although this did nothing to satiate her hunger.
"Ugh, this is getting really annoying."
Taiga found what was left of the snacks she and Ryuji had bought yesterday. $25 worth of food had been purchased, and she had only eaten half of the supplies before bed. Ignoring her earlier thoughts about empty calories she made short work of the remaining food. She was rewarded for her efforts by a stomach that was blocking her view of her feet, although it had finally stopped rumbling. Her mood had improved too, and she finally felt like she could get back to sleep.
With the knowledge that her housewife of a boyfriend would clean up, she left the rubbish where it was and got back into bed. A thought half-occurred to her before sleep overtook her, wiping it from her brain:
