"Hi Roran..." says the familiar voice, which causes you to cringe. You were never one for having enemies, but if you had to pick one person you trusted the least, it would be Kim. Whenever she greeted you with that tone in her voice, it was always a sure sign that she was up to something. Perhaps looking to trick or manipulate you, even blackmail you in some way. You could practically hear her sly grin through the phone. You mutter a swear under your breath, wishing you'd checked your caller ID first.
"What is it, Kim?" you say, clearly not thrilled to hear from her. You tried to sound as if you're in a hurry, but failed to mask the sleepiness in your voice. Kim answers, feigning disappointment in a very cute manner as she always did. You hated to admit, she was damn good at it. "Aww, you don't sound happy to hear from me... And here I was, calling to be nice and invite you over." You knew she was just trying to get in your head, but that didn't make it any easier. You can't help but picture her signature pouty face that always made you weak in the knees.
Swallowing a nervous lump in your throat, you retain your composure. "Listen, you can't fool me anymore. Even if I didn't know you were up to something, why the heck would I want to come over after all the times you've humiliated me?!" "Well...." she replied, her confident tone making you uneasy. Kim simply replies with a confident giggle.
As much as you wished she were bluffing, you could only think back to a few months earlier, when a fellow classmate arrived at school only to find a variety of embarrassing photographs of him up and down all the hallways, plastered on random lockers. The poor kid was traumatized and had to transfer out a week later. Nobody ever found out who was responsible, but you knew it was Kim. Her smug, satisfied expression practically confessed it.
After a short moment, you groan in frustration under your breath, realizing you had to comply. Kim, knowing she'd won, cheerfully says "Great! See you in an hour!" before hanging up the phone.
Already dreading to find out what the day brings, you sigh and get up, going about your usual morning routine. You shower, get dressed, eat a quick cereal breakfast, brush your teeth, and so on, before heading out the door nearly an hour later. Unfortunately for you, her house was only a short walk away, and you arrive at her doorstep right on time. You weren't exactly eager to find out what she wanted, but there was no turning back now. You reach a hand up to ring her doorbell, but before you can, the front door swings open and you're greeted by...
