You look around, not exactly sure where you are. You're definitely not in the chair anymore, that much is certain. The ground under you is soft and warm, but it still doesn't indicate where you are. Your train of thought is suddenly interrupted by Ms. Hayes clearing her throat. You jump at the sound, as it seems much louder than usual. As you happen to look up, you nearly scream at what you see above you. Ms. Hayes is staring down at you, but she's huge! Whatever you're sitting on is right in front of her face, but something's not right. Ms. Hayes looks like some sort of giant before your eyes.
"Are you awake now?" she asks, her voice as stern as ever. "Y-yes," you reply, still shocked and confused. "Good. I was getting tired of waiting. I'm sure by now you can tell that things have changed. More specifically, you've shrunk." Finally, it hits you. You realize that you're sitting in the palm of Ms. Hayes's hand! "What? How?" you stammer, unable to think clearly enough to ask anything else. "I'm sure you've heard that I have a special punishment for anyone who makes fun of my nose. It's true, and you're about to find out what it is," Ms. Hayes says, bringing you even closer to her face. Her large nose is right in front of you, giving you a true appreciation for how huge it really is. "What is it?" you asked, sounding nervous. Ms. Hayes smiles and lowers you away from her face slightly.
"It's nothing too terrible. If you do what I tell you, everything will be fine. You'll eventually return to your normal size and you won't remember anything that happened. Well, you'll remember one thing: never make fun of my nose." You almost sigh with relief, but you remember that this is Ms. Hayes you're dealing with. If you make it look like it's not so bad, she'll find some way to change your mind. "Put simply, I just need your help with cleaning something." You swallow, feeling afraid now. You've been in her class long enough to know that when Ms. Hayes says "put simply," something horrible and complicated is bound to follow. "What do you need help cleaning?"
