Looking down at the face of his demise, George's adrenaline kicked into overdrive. He clawed and thrashed his way out of the jelly like an animal possessed, hands digging their way through mounds and mounds of sticky, gelatinous red. He continued on like this until he managed to get himself free, then scrambled across the soft surface of the wheat bread. As Charlie placed the bread in his mouth, George leapt away and managed to cling on to an outstretched thumb.
When the thumb next ended up near the counter, George leapt off it, and immediately took off in a mad dash as far away from the giant as he could. He didn't need a psychic to know that sticking around for any longer was guanrentee to end badly for him. He had to find somewhere to hid as soon as possible

By the time Charlie had finished his toast, George still hadn't shown himself.
Admittedly, the 14-year-old was starting to get a little worried. He knew George could sleep like the dead, but this seemed excessive. Well, maybe not; he once slept for close to two days in a row, and only got up when his dad practically shoved him out of bed. Man, he was absolutely furious that he missed an entire weekend and essentially had to do two entire weeks' worth of classes without a real break.
Still, he thought about going up to his room to check on him, but he figured that one of his brothers would probably be on it. There was Tom, who was George's older brother by a few minutes but looked like an ogre and a train crash had sex (he was not suicidal enough to say that to anyone's face, even George's). There was also Aanan, that weird Hindu kid his age that their dad basically adopted and worshiped the ground George walked on. There was also James, who was George's little brother that was only a couple of years younger than him. Not to be confused with Jamie, who was Tom's best friend, but hung out here so often even without Tom it basically felt like he was part of the family.
...man, George had a lot of brothers, didn't he? Not that he minded, it was cool when he got to hand out with everybody and feel like he was part of one big family. It just wasn't something that he was all that used to as an only child.
Either way, Charlie was willing to wait however long it would take before George eventually willed himself away. In the meantime, he may as well continue making himself at home.
