You aren’t sure what to expect anymore after signing the new body Port agreement. On one hand, you are glad to have the help getting your new body ready for the wedding. Without the help of your new Mom, you wouldn’t have any idea how to do hair or get dressed. She was already helpful this morning helping you put your hair into a neat pony tail. On the other hand, you are still mad that you missed going out with your friends you haven’t seen since college. You knew all the guys were going to the strip clubs last night. Given you were in the body of an 8 year old girl, you wouldn’t have been to go along anyway.
After breakfast, you sit in front of the TV and turn on ESPN. Your Mom grabs the remote and changes the channel to Nickelodeon. “Hey! I was watching that!” You try to tell her.
Mom says, “There is inappropriate language on that channel. You need to watch something more your age.”
You shake your head, “Oh. This must be part of the updated contract huh? What am I supposed to do all morning then?”
“I’m trying to figure that out right now.” Mom explains, “I’m looking at this family’s calendar to see what they normally do.”
You point out, “Wait a second? I’m not here to live this girl’s life for her! I came here for my friend’s wedding.”
Mom agrees, “You are right Stephanie. According to the contract you are able to attend every required event dealing with the wedding. But by signing it, you consented to maintaining Stephanie’s lifestyle. It’s not just you though. This also means I have to keep up her mother’s regular schedule too.“
You joke, “So if this wasn’t the middle of the summer, I would have to go to school for Stephanie?”
“Yes. You have to remember. Most people who sign this type of agreement enjoy living someone else‘s life for a vacation.”
After reading the wedding itinerary, Mom explains, “It says that there is an afternoon social today. It is at the father of the bride’s home starting at 3.“ Mom noted, “That means we will have to find Stephanie’s swimsuit. It says it is a pool party.”
You roll your eyes hearing you will be wearing Stephanie’s swimsuit. You nod, “Oh, that’s right. I forgot about the pool party . But isn’t there anything before that? I’d like to hang out with my friends for a bit.“
Mom shook her head, “It looks like the bachelor party was last night. I’m sure all of your friends are hung over and wont be getting up until after noon. That’s probably why they scheduled it so late.”
“So what do we do until then? It’s only 8am?”
Mom finished reading the family calendar and sighed, “Hmm…It says here that my body goes to a yoga class in the gym at 9.”
You laugh, “Ha ha! Looks like you will be doing some working out while I‘m home watching TV!”
Mom then explained, “Not exactly. It says here that Stephanie’s summer gymnastics class also starts at 9. They obviously scheduled it so they could go to the gym together.”
Your eyes get wide, “Gymnastics? You can’t be serious! I‘m not prancing around with a bunch of girls!”
As Mom walked towards Stephanie’s bedroom, she cracked a smile, “Remember, you are contractually obligated to do everything their normal bodies would!” She came back shortly with an article of clothing and handed it to you, “You better put this on! We need to leave in 10 minutes!”
You held a leotard in your hands and rolled your eyes. You hold it up to your body and groaned. It was baby blue with a small attached skirt. Sparkles ran down the neckline. “Ok! This is enough! I appreciated the help with getting my body ready, but this is too much! I want to go back to the old contract!”
Mom shook her head, “Trust me. I wish we could! I hate yoga! I’m not thrilled about this either. But the contract you signed last night cant be altered for 5 business days. Unfortunately, the only other option would be to terminate the contract. But that would mean you would immediately body port home. And since somebody else is currently utilizing your original body, you would be body ported into the first available body on a temporary basis until yours was returned. Then you would incur a mandatory 20,000 dollar fine for replanting you back into your original body. You would be banned for life at the Body Port Inc. Not to mention that would also mean you’d miss the wedding.”
Realizing she was right, you held up the leotard and groaned, “I may as well get this over with!” You walked into Stephanie’s bedroom to change. Mom added, “Look at the bright side! Gymnastics might be fun! You will probably do some interesting spins and jumps!”
You laugh back and sarcastically reply, “Yipee!”
“Oh. And one more thing!” Mom looks at you with a serious look, “I’ve been pretty relaxed this morning with your demeanor. I understand this is taking some getting used to. However, periodically the Body Port company sends out disguised agents to monitor our behavior. It’s kind of like an auditing system to ensure we are doing our jobs correctly. They could be monitoring us at any time. So from now on, you need to clean up your language and stop those sassy remarks. A normal daughter would never get away with talking to her mother like that. I am supposed to treat you like the body you are in. I don’t want to jeopardize my career over you. I’ll have to discipline you like Stephanie’s real mother would if you act up. You are a bit old for swatting, but I have the authority to ground you if I deem it appropriate. You don’t want to risk missing the wedding do you Stephanie?”
You take a deep breath realizing how serious the Body Port company was. You would hate to get grounded and miss the wedding. You are really regretting signing the updated contract.
Mom asks, “Do you understand Stephanie?”
You decide to comply with Mom and almost over-act your role. You give a huge fake smile and reply with the cutest voice you can muster, “Yes Mommy. I understand!”
Mom cant help crack a smile at the way you answered. She ends with, “Watch that sarcasm too young lady!”
You laugh back, “Oopsie! Sorry about that!”
