Artemis was quite surprised how natural and how human the kiss and the whole moment with Serene felt. He could tell he had a lot of things inside him that didn't feel at all like the organs he could feel back when he had his ill human body, but the core sensations were still there, the softness and warmth that Serene emitted from her android body, her lips and tongue that felt just like the real thing and what was more important, the warmth, giddiness and joy of knowing that he could now live a long life next to someone she loved like Serene was still there. The feeling of whatever was instead of his heart swooning, or whatever were the butterflies in his metallic stomach.. everything was too real.
The only thing he disapproved of is that he would have LOVED to continue talking with Serene, about life, about their future, about working as a weapon, but it was as if something suddenly go off in both him and Serene's bodies and they couldn't feel falling asleep, closing their eyes as everything became blurry and, at least for Artemis, losing himself in a nothingness when he couldn't even dream with anything, like a temporal version of the death he just evaded with this new body
When he opened his eyes again he felt a wave of restlessness, fearing the idea of never waking up again even if he understood how it was a miracle that he was still alive on the first place. When he felt the body next to him he calmed himself down a bit, until he felt her body no longer emitting that familiar warmth and feeling cold to the touch instead. Those were little details and he knew it, but maybe it was things he could talk with Dr D'Arc about to see if there was any way to solve them, because like the old saying goes, he never treasured such small things like being able to dream until he could tell for sure he was no longer capable of doing so
Something next to him got suddenly warmth and he smiled when looking down and seeing Serene wake up with a bit of fear clinging to his arm
"Serene.." Artemis said softly, making her look up with such a tender expression on her face it made all his worries melt away
