Not long after Zero had finished shrinking, Pallette sneaked into the room. Entering a combination of numbers into a nearby keypad, she deactivated the room's alarm system and opened the stasis tube. Carefully picking up the tiny hunter, she then made her way toward the navigator's sleeping quarters. Looking at the shrunken Zero, she thought "Huh. You know, at this size, he is actually pretty cute. Still, I did this for Layer. I can't wait to see how she reacts to this! And the best part is, the chip had a slight memory altering effect. When Zero wakes up, he won't remember me installing it!"

A few hours ago...
Having returned from a shopping trip, Layer entered the living quarters provided to her by Hunter HQ. Unlike the stasis chambers used by the hunters for the sake of quick response, the navigators' rooms were more similar to reasonably sized apartments, including individual bedrooms and washrooms and shared kitchen and living areas, to suit the reploids' human-like desire for luxuries. Layer herself also looked different from her usual navigator form, sporting a more casual dress (T-shirt and jeans) rather than her usual metallic armor. In recent years, some reploids had grown discontent with walking around in bulky armor during everyday activity. After some heavy research, a team of engineers at Hunter HQ (including Pallette) had managed to reverse engineer the technology used in Dr. Light's armor capsules to build a device that could change and remove armor. Such developments have provided a great deal of comfort for reploids, as well as helped to smooth their integration with human society.
Getting back on topic, Layer prepared a light supper for herself, briefly hopped into the shower, changed into a light belly shirt and a pair of purple pajama pants, and laid down in her bed. As she pulled up her covers, she thought back to her conversation with Zero, and Pallette's teasing about it, she wondered "Maybe Pallette is right. Why shouldn't I try talking to Zero. We ARE friends... sort of. All right, then! It's settled. Tomorrow, I'll talk to Zero, and ask if he wants to spend some time together!" Filled with an amount of resolve she didn't know she had, Layer entered sleep mode, already mulling over her plans for the next day. Little did she know, someone else had already decided how her meeting with Zero would take place...

Back to the present...
Pallette quietly entered her friend's bedroom, Zero in tow. She slowly crept up to the sleeping Layer and, in a move that would probably cause Layer to die of embarrassment were she still awake, slipped Zero onto her sleeping friend's chest, nestling him between her breasts. "Pleasant dreams, you two," she whispered, then slowly made her way out. But as she reached the doorway, she turned around to take one last look at her friend. "Now that is just ADORABLE!" she thought, as she saw Layer softly place her hand over her sleeping crush, a soft smile lighting her face.
