Chapter #3
Infatuation
by: Unknown
"I was going into town...just to see what happens. You know, maybe even go the park or something."
"Oh? Sounds...fun. Are you going with a friend?" your mom inquired. She looked at you suspiciously, and inside you knew she was onto your game.
"No. Just me. I just want to enjoy the weekend you know?"
"Mhm, and I'm sure this has nothing to do with Mary does it?" Oh, she knew.
"Who?" your dad asked, suddenly interested at the sound of another woman's name. "Are you seeing someone Dan?"
"He isn't yet. You know you're too young to worry about dating."
"Mom, I'm 16! That's definitely old enough. Amy started dating Josh a while ago."
'That was different..."
"Yeah, because she's the giant one. You're afraid I'll get hurt."
"Daniel, you two are young...Mary doesn't know how to love a man yet."
"You don't know that! Mom...please just trust me. I have feelings for her...I don't want to miss out if she likes me back." Your Dad looked at your Mom and then at you again.
"May I give my opinion?" Your Mom nodded.
"Well, honey, we started dating when we were fifteen. Now we have three wonderful kids. I think we should let Daniel off his leash. Mary is a good girl." Your Mom shook her head.
"Things are different, the world was safer then."
"And the world will just be less safe one day. That's how things work. Mary isn't a harm to him though." Your Mom sat in thought for a moment, then laid her palm in front of you. You stepped on, and she lifted you to her face.
"Promise you'll be extra careful?"
"I promise." A tear fell down one of her cheeks, so she hugged you to her dry cheek instead. Once breakfast was done you were out, glad that your Mom was okay with this. It didn't take long to get to the park, just a fifteen minute bike ride, and when you arrived you saw her. Mary, the girl you had a crush on forever. Today...today you would tell her.
