Quantum-Level Reality Alteration Specialist?

"Subject now being transformed to perform the following preprogrammed function -- quantum-level reality alteration specialist," spoke the voice.

"Quantum what?" wondered Jay, as the humming from the box increased somewhat in volume.

"I suspect we don't really have enough time to go into the principles behind quantum theory," said Brett, "although that could be a mistranslation from the original alien language, and..." He trailed off once he realized no one was listening to him anymore.

The humming soon decreased in volume, and the voice said, "Transformation complete," as the metal cap withdrew from Cindy's head and retracted through the rippling "solid" exterior back into the machine.

Cindy blinked a couple of times, then started to stand up, looking wobbly. Dr. Willis rushed over to help. "How do you feel?" asked the scientist as she put Cindy's arm around her own shoulders.

Cindy replied, "Um, I don't know. A little bit of a headache, maybe. How should I feel?"

"That's just it," replied Dr. Willis. "We don't know. How did you feel when the cap was on your head?"

"Just like I was wearing a heavy hat," Cindy answered, rubbing her scalp with one hand.

Liz piped up. "So you're a reality alteration specialist. Try to alter reality!"

"What?" Cindy looked confused.

"That's what the machine said you were being turned into," said Liz.

Cindy looked at Brett, who shrugged.

Dr. Willis said, "Hmm, yes, obviously we're going to want to do a full physical workup on you, but that could be a good initial test."

"But how would I do it?" asked Cindy.

"I guess just think of what you want to happen," suggested Dr. Willis. "Try to visualize it as best you can."

"Okay," Cindy said as she scrunched up her face a bit.
