This choice: Sanada will be staying in the city, its their job to act as friendly bodygaurds! • Go Back... As directed, all six young shinobi took their seats around the dining room table. The Feudal Lady was already seated across from Tsunade, whose right side was filled with Shizune. At the entrance of the six young ninja, Sakura decided to take the seat on Tsunade's left side. Lee scrambled to take the seat to the right of her, but was cock blocked by a certain ninja in orange. Hinata did her best to work up the courage to even think about grabbing the seat next to him, but was herself foiled by the pale ROOT ninja Sai. Settling for second best, Hinata sat next to Shizune and Ino next to her. However once realizing that this would put her the farthest away from the cutest guy in the room, Sai, Ino quickly scrambled to take the empty seat next to the Fuukuraida heir and the seat across from Sai, putting Lee directly across from Naruto and a good gazing distance closer to his own crush, Sakura.
"Well, now that we're done playing musical chairs." Tsunade said, opening with an actual joke rather than her usual bitter sarcasm, "I think we should probably get everyone started."
The more observant of the tardy shinobi, Hinata, Sakura, and Sai, took notice of the fact that rather than waiting on everyone else to arrive the people present in the dining hall had already begun their meals prior to their arrival! Tsunade, Shizune, Ino, and the Fuedal Lady had already started eating! Aside from being rude, this act of indiscrepancy seemed to have occurred at least a good twenty minutes ago, judging by how little there was on everyone's plates. Except of course, for the esteemed Lady Sanada; whose already small amount of elbow room had been cramped with three discarded plates. This of course, was noted by even the bluntest of shinobi in the room. Even Naruto couldn't help but watch as this girl of no more than sixteen devoured her rations in a manner very reminiscent of his own! She didn't seem to acknowledge the arrival of her bodyguards quite yet, as she seemed so enthralled in finding the bottom of her plate. While by no means a messy eater, Lady Fuukuraida was far from the dainty eater that everyone had expected.
"Eh..." Naruto struggled to find words as he watched the strange display in front of him, he raised a wobbly finger to point at her, but he was met by a matching pair of punches from both Tsunade and Sakura; their fists meeting between Naruto's whisker marked cheeks. Hinata wasn't too concerned with the table manners of their guests, especially not when Naruto's mortality was involved. Her thoughts on the matter were just short of something actually insulting, but those would never be divulged to those around her. Sai couldn't care less, he was simply flashing his smile blankly towards the Lady. Lee was abhorred at such rudeness from one of such distinguished background before realizing that this must have been some sort of eating contest and she was already swelling with the results of how much she had eaten. And of course, not so surprisingly, Ino's opinion came out as little snickers and giggles at the young girl's expense.
It wasn't until after everyone was served that the Lady would stop eating, practically slamming her plate down onto the table and pushing it back with a heavy sigh of contentment. "Ah!" she groaned heartily, "I have to say, you've got some pretty talented chefs at your disposal Lady Hokage." Sanada said haughtily, "You have done an excellent job satiating my appetites."
"Great, 'chept we're theh onesh shtill eating." Naruto grumbled to himself through a thick mouthful of grilled steak. Sakura, hearing his derogatory remark, nearly broke his femur with the swift sturdy kick she delivered. "That's wonderful, Lady Sanada!" Tsunade said in the fakest voice possible, "Are you sure you wouldn't like to have a little more though, we have plenty." The royal girl thought for a second before turning the offer down, "No thank you, I wouldn't wish to make a glutton of myself in front of your ninja." Ino snorted, "Too late for that." she mumbled before she felt her toes crumble at the mercy of another of Sakura's kicks. "Anyway, um, why don't you tell us a little about yourself Lady Sanada?" Sakura said nervously as she desperately stretched her legs to keep everyone at the table quiet, "If we're going to be spending so much time together in the coming months, I think we should all know a little bit about you to make your stay in the Leaf Village easier!"
The round girl's ego having been stroked successfully, she smiled kindly towards the pink haired kunoichi. "Perhaps after dinner, young pink-headed girl." she said with a sort of social naivety that enraged said pinky, "After all, you are all still eating, it would be very rude of me to interrupt your meals despite my already finishing."
Sakura grumbled something rather derogatory herself, much to the amusement of the still-recovering Naruto, before diving back into her meal. After only a few more minutes, everyone was just finishing up, when Lady Sanada decided to speak not of her life story; but rather to excuse herself from the bathroom. The Lady hefted herself up, inadvertently revealing that she bore quite a rotund bottom and an overall pear shape, and waddled out the dining room and down the hall. It was at this time that Tsunade decided to level the playing field and start acting like herself again. Unable to bear any more food presented to her, she scooped the remainder of her third plate onto the similarly stuffed Shizune's and brought her arms to the table in her usual business manner; everyone could tell by her furrowed blonde brow that they were finally going to get the low-down on their ponderous plumper princess.
"Alright; for those of you who aren't very bright, that was Lady Sanada of the Land of Plenty." she said sternly, "Yes she's quite heavy, and no she doesn't like being reminded of such. On that matter: Naruto, Ino, keep your blonde mouths shut during this mission. Do not in any way, shape, or form, insinuate that she is overweight or you will regret it." both addressed blondes gulped slightly as the listened further, "That woman's father was Lord Ikeda Fuukuraida, one of the most wealth entrepreneurs in the Land of Fire. Recently he passed and left his entire fortune to his daughter, Lady Sanada. As such you six will allocate all time necessary to make sure that his daughter has an enjoyable stay in the Leaf Village."
"Sounds easy enough." Naruto said confidently
"You'd think that, of course." Tsunade said darkly as she silently commanded Shizune to finish what she had put on her plate, "Lady Sanada is docile enough, but you mustn't let her attitude fool you. She's a little sheltered, so keep any and all bad news away from her, and she's used to getting her own way. Do what and when she wants you to do, or she might not invest in the Leaf Village."
"Wow, she sounds really important." Ino piped up
"She is. Let me put it this way, if she chose to invest in our village, all the debts I have accumulated will be filled three times over." Everyone at the table let out the same amazed whistle, much to the chagrin of their superior, "Yeah yeah, that's a lot. Anyway, I spoke to her about living in the common house where most of our royal guests stay during their trips, but she seems determined to live in the city amongst "regular people". I can only post so many ANBU outside her door without her knowing, and unfamiliar guards rather than escorts might upset her."
"In short, I need you six to be the best friends that girl's ever had for the next six months."
Everyone had their own take on the matter. Naruto was, in a few words, "bummed because he would be stuck with this mission for so long." Sakura shared the same despair, but found peace in that she would have a lot more time to study with Tsunade. Sai was indifferent, it seemed to be just another mission to him. Ino was the most audibly remorseful, actually letting out a groan before being silenced by Tsunade's sharp glare. Lee took this with as much fervor as he did with anything else, promising to make this "the absolute best extended time that Lady Sanada has ever spent in a village that was not her own!" Of course Hinata was exuberant; red faced and blushing at the thought of spending so much time on a mission with Naruto.
The silence was only broken by Shizune's hurried eating before Lady Sanada re-entered the dining hall. "Excuse me, so what did I miss?" she asked naively, looking around and sending her ponytails back and forth. "Oh, uh, nothing!" Tsunade said in her resumedly fake attitude towards the girl, "We, were, um, just about to get another serving brought out."
"Oh good, I feel like I can handle a couple more plates now." Sanada said happily as she plopped her mighty rear down to the cushioned seat, "I'll have my servants bring up another serving or two for everyone before I dismiss them to your order, Lady Tsunade."
Both Ino and Shizune groaned, two plates for each would mean four and six plates respectively! They weren't used to eating this much! "Wait a second!" Naruto barked as he pointed towards his Hokage, "You get servants?! How come we don't get servants?!" He was silenced with another quick kick and a brash "Shut up, Naruto!"
"And I'm sure in these six months, they'll treat you and your adviser as well as they have treated me!" Sanada said merrily
Tsunade could only laugh nervously.... indicates the next chapter needs to be written. |
