Simba felt an itching between his shoulder-blades as he surveyed the area around his vantage point atop a pile of stones. There was, he felt, something odd about the area, that it was somehow different and special compared to the jungle outside, though he couldn't figure out why-
"You see anything up there kid," Timon called out from below where he and Pumbaa were standing.
"No, well nothing dangerous anyway," Simba replied, turning around and jumping down, "it does feel kind of odd though, like this place is different from the rest of the jungle."
"You're just being sensitive buddy," Timon said, "Come on, I bet there's a regular horde of bugs around here somewhere."

This seemed even more odd than the pillar at the gate had, but where that had been an uneasy oddness, this was definitely a welcoming one, as though he'd found, in the middle of a racket, a place where sounds were muffled and quiet.
Suddenly, Simba found himself feeling a tad thirsty. For a moment he found it odd, there was no reason for sudden a sudden thirst, or was it so sudden? They'd been travelling half the day, so surely a drink was in order right? Brushing aside his concerns, the young lion rationalised that he most have had a dry mouth for a while, but that it was only in this sudden stillness that he'd actually noted it. Crouching down, he began to lap at the water, which for some reason tasted slightly sweeter than he thought it should. His contemplation on this matter though, was shattered when...
