Inferiority

How about one side in the war uses near-future tech, and the other uses 1700s technology, such as cannons and muskets, while the superior side is almost completely impervious to the inferior side's weapons?

While the superior side should be technologically advanced, they should be physically inferior to the other side; for example: humans have advanced tech, but most anthros are mini-macroes and can grow much, much, larger, or anthros are advanced while humans are much stronger than the anthros
