Jake thought about his awesome new flying power. He was just like Superman! That made him think about the treadmill back at the gym. Did he really have super speed? He didn't know, but he wanted to find out.
Jake walked down the stairs and into the kitchen. "Mom, I'm going out for a jog," he said.
"OK, but be safe," his mother warned him. Jake nodded excitedly, and rushed out the door.
Once out on the street, Jake got into a sprinting position and took off running. At first he was running as fast as he normally would. Suddenly, his legs felt like they had a little more energy in them, so he increased his speed. He soon passed 10 MPH, and he didn't look to be slowing down!
As he reached the end of his block, Jake grinned. "Time to kick it up a notch!" he said, and he really pumped his legs as hard as he could.
Jake felt his speed increasing as he flew by the houses, bushes fluttering from the wind he was creating. His speed was still increasing!
20 MPH, 30, 40...
Jake began to feel more and more confident and amazed. This was unbelievable! He was like a superhero!
50, 60, 70...
Jake suddenly saw the interstate rapidly approaching as he went faster and faster. Wanting a good speed challenge, he raced up and exit ramp and onto the highway.
80, 90, 100...
Jake whooped in excitement as he flew by the cars, a blur to anyone looking on. He wasn't sure how he got his powers, but he liked it.
110, 120, 130...
Jake wasn't even tired, and he felt like he could run forever. He knew that he needed to decide what he should do, however...
