“How was school, Jake?” Martha asked, hearing Jake sneak up behind her.
Jake muttered a curse under his breath. She was good at that. Knowing when someone was up to no good. No amount of working at home, sleeping, or watching television (which she was doing now) could keep her from hearing people’s footsteps on the floor.
“It was fine,” Jake answered as he quickly activated the Paste feature without bothering changing any settings.
Jake blinked, then saw that the change had worked. His mother was still herself, but she was dressed in the jogger’s outfit. He had never seen this much of his mother’s skin exposed before, and he tried not to think too hard about it.
“What am I doing?” Martha asked herself. “Watching a show when I could be out getting toned.”
Martha stood up, made sure her new running shoes were laced, then headed for the door.
“Mom, what about dinner?”
“Hm? Oh yeah, it’s pasta night, isn’t it?” Martha remembered. “Well, I’m sure you and your siblings can figure it out. Or your father can order something.”
With that, Martha exited. Jake stepped outside and watched as she jogged away, faster than he had ever seen her move. He looked at the device. It had pasted the jogger’s clothes and personality onto his mother, and she didn’t think a thing of it.
Now he was curious about the body swap feature. Aiming at his mother just before he rounded a corner and left his sight, he copied her body, and wondered who he should paste it onto.
