Max stepped into Busto Burgers and went to the counter. He looked around and saw that the restaurant was surprisingly empty for mid afternoon, the only other person there was a large cashier and several chunky cooks in the kitchen chatting about nothing. He stepped up to the cashier, who blurted out the typical lines at a fast food joint, asking what he would like to order.
"Well you see...." Max trailed off. "I was looking more for a job application." Without missing the beat, the cashier lifted his flabby arm and pointed to the room that said MANAGER. "Oh, I see, thanks!" Max said as he scurried off into the small but decorated room.
"Hello Hello... Take a seat." Said a voice from behind the counter. Max sat down across from him, following his instructions. He was a slick guy, dressed in a Work Shirt and Tie with a Namepin that said *Manny*
Max and Manny shook hands. "Nice to meet you, my name is Manny Jehr, and I can only assume that you want to join the Busto Burgers Family." Max could only smile awkwardly as Manny refused to let his hand go, and was continuing to shake it while he babbled on and on about the Busto Burger History, nodding like he was paying attention. "Now you might not expect this, but here at Busto Burgers we have very high standards for our food that I'm sure you'll come to see as reasonable, but needed..." Manny said as he slid Max a application form. "All You need to do is sign here. We know time is Precious. That's why we got into the FAST Food Industry. GET IT?!" He faked a laugh as Max signed the application form.
"Alright. So when will I know if I got the Job?" Max Asked leaning back in the chair. Manny counted down on his fingers. "Three, Two, One. CONGRATULATIONS YOU GOT THE JOB!" He jumped up in a very excited Manner causing Max to flinch.
"Oh... uh, and when.... do I start?" Max said, already worried about the sanity of his new boss, and blocking his face from the baggy uniform he had thrown at him. "RIGHT AWAY!" Manny cheered. "Get In the Kitchen and get started!"
Not knowing what he was really supposed to be doing, Max headed to the back to the kitchen, placing the uniform over his clothes, since they were baggy enough to fit without anyone noticing. He found one guy making some a pile of burgers over in the corner and went over to join him, so he could learn the ropes.
"Hey. That's uh... quite a big order." Max said looking at at least 15 burgers piled up on the tray, while the pudgy Cook was working on the next one. "No It's Not. One Burger. Fries. Drink..." The Cook droned on, finishing the order, and handing a car in the driver through a solo burger, then going back to the grill and taking one of the burgers and eating it whole. Max stared at him questionably. "Then.... what are those?" He said pointing to all the burgers remaining.
"Rejects." the cook said. Max looked at the burgers. They looked perfectly edible to him, nothing out of the ordinary, at least not something he saw. The Cook took note and continued. "We have to prepare the burgers in a specific way..." He started listing the exact assembly method for each burger, and how it was supposed to be layered, as well as what sauces to use where. Max Gulped, he heard there were high standards, but this was ridiculous.....
Max looked through some of the burgers again as the cook began working on the next order. "Do you get punished or anything for not making them right?"
