"I think I'll take this charm," Vanguard said as he picked up the Glutton Charm. "A charm like this could be helpful in a pinch. Sometimes thieves in this town won't give back stolen goods without daring someone to eat sludge or something else that's disgusting."
"Really? That's just strange," Ruma said.
"It happens. Normally if it is a legal thief they would normally charge money, but at times they can get quite feisty and ask for something in return. Just last week I had to eat a bowl of slugs in order to recover guildmaster's stolen ring. The thief was the head of the thieves guild. I believe his name was Jeremy Hooler. For an owl he is one sweet talking thief. When I was trying to recover the Baker Guildmaster's ring I had to pay Jeremy 10,000 gold or eat slugs."
"So you ate the slugs since you didn't have the money," Ruma said.
"Exactly. After I finished the bowl of slugs, I returned Baker Guildmaster's ring. It wasn't until later that night that I got sick. Apparently I ate poisonous midnight slugs. I was so sick that I was bedridden for a few days. Fortunately my boss sent someone from the healers guild to take care of me.," Vanguard said.
"I see. I know that there a bunch of strange things that happen in this town. I've heard rumors that the head of the Assassins Guild runs this town. I'm not sure if these rumors are true or if they are hoax."
"It's no rumor. People call him the Tyrant. However, he won't bother anyone as long as people pay their taxes," Vanguard said.
"That's a relief. Good bye Vanguard and remember not to use that charm in excess," Ruma said.
