James decided to continue down the hall, his CAR 15 raised and sweeping: the steady thump of his boot heels his only companion, the dripping of water from a leaky pipe his only annoyance . As he drew level with the door he nudged it with the barrel of his CAR but to no avail, the door was locked and it wasn't budging any time soon.
"No matter" James spoke taking comfort in the sound of his own voice "I wasn't planning on going that way anyway"
As he resumed his cautious pace down the hall he turned on his radio again only to be met with the screech of static. James winced as he shut the radio off only to realize that the hall had gone completely silent, just as he stood there gripped by a growing sense of icy dread a bloodcurdling scream shattered the silence. James glanced down at his radio half expecting it to be the cause of the disturbance , however the switch was still in the off position.
As James raised his CAR and started to scan the area he began to hear the thud of foot steps
Thud, thud, thud. Jame's mind began to race looking for possibilities
Thud, thud, thud. To his right he saw an alcove that he could hide in, while at the same time his mind registered that he could probably take whoever it was with his CAR 15.
The scream was closer this time, a booming inhuman howl that made James want to jump out of his skin. As James looked closer at the T intersection he noticed that the lights on the left hand side began to flicker.
