"Four o'clock already?" you mutter. "There's no way I'll be able to get everything done today."
It's true. You had told yourself you were going to be productive today, but here it is mid-afternoon and your only accomplishment so far has been the purchase and consumption of an over-priced slice of pizza from the mall food court. Still, the day isn't quite over—if you hurry, you might yet manage to keep the weekend from being a complete waste. You probably only have enough time to finish one of your planned tasks, but one is better than none, right?
The most responsible course of action would be to finish up your job-hunting. None of the places at the Mall had been accepting applications, but a bulletin board posting had mentioned that some place called "King Applied Research Center" might be willing to pay people to participate in their scientific studies. Even as late as it is, you figure you still have enough time to get over there and apply if you leave right away.
That said, you're not quite sure you're ready to leave just yet—there's a new store here at the mall that looks strangely interesting. You've never really been a big fan of magic tricks, but there's something about this "Spells R Us" store that just seems to call to you. You tell yourself you should just come back later when you're not so busy, but somehow you can't shake the feeling that you might not get another chance. It couldn't hurt to check it out, could it? At the very least you might find some cool posters or something.
Then again, your best friends Kyle and Matthew were planning on exploring that old abandoned mansion at the edge of town today. You'd told them you couldn't go because you'd be too busy job-hunting, but after today's unrelenting series of failures you could really use a break. They should be leaving about this time—if you call now, they could probably swing by and pick you up on their way over.
Glancing again at your watch, you realize it's now four-fifteen. Whatever you decide to do, you'd better get going soon.
