While waiting for the rest to finish off their warm up, you find yourself mentally wandering around the pool until your eye catches on Rachel about to dive into the pool. Watching, you see her slim physique effortlessly enter the water without so much as a splash, "She's so wonderful at everything..." you think to yourself. While this is happening, you're vaguely aware that the rest of your class had finished their lengths and the coach had started talking again. Still in awe of what you were watching, you sense that the noise around you is building. "RACHEL!!! PAY ATTENTION!!!", you snap out of your daze and turn to see the coach glaring at you. "As I was saying *ahem* the head coach wants us to do time trials now. I thought we'd still have a couple of weeks before deciding who goes, but apparently not, now get in there and do your best!"
Everyone hopped back into the water and waited until they got their signal. It was only one lane so everyone had to wait their turn which gave you some time to think. "He just yelled Rachel at me didn't he!?" you suddenly realize. That was definately what you heard. "He can't have, I was thinking of her and so I heard her name, that sounds about right...", but it didn't, you were sure of what you heard. No time to think about it now, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and you set off.
