Chapter #7

Kate sends me home.

Upon arriving at the bus stop, I felt that pain in my stomach again and nearly keeled over from the sharp pain. A soft but high pitched, 'Neyow!' escaped my lips. A few of the guys and girls at the bus stop turned to me concerned, to which I muttered, "Stomach ache."

My friends who were there shook their heads, concerned, then turned back to their conversation as they knew i did not like talking about my problems. However, Kate walked up to me with a heavier look of worry. "You don't look so good, James." she said. "A stomach ache wouldn't make you look that pale."

I turned to Kate, she was about three inches shorter than me with doll like features, shoulder length night black hair and curious green eyes. Kate always wore dark colors with her school uniform but she had the brightest personality, I could not imagine her having any enemies. "I'll be alright." I assured her. "I was raised to be tough."

"Also stubborn." replied Kate with a giggle. "I'd go home and get into bed, if I were you."

Curious, Samantha Wild, my classmate in homeroom turned to me and gasped. "James, you're as pale as a ghost!" she said, almost horrified. "Why are you even outside!?"

Another classmate, Todd Karl, turned my way and shook his head. "Man, you look like hell!" he said. "Get your ass home and call your doctor or something!"

"Please, James." said Kate, tears forming. "Go home and rest."

I was a bit confused by everyone's sudden shift in concern but I was not in the mood to fight for my right to go to school, as I did feel weak. "Fine." I said, sounding disappointed. "I'll go home."

"Good call, man." said Todd. "Get well soon."

"Don't forget to call your doctor." said Samantha.

"Yeah, yeah." I said, waving bye to them.

With that said, I slowly walked home, feeling my book bag get steadily heavier. When I finally arrived, I literally dropped by bag by the door and walked into my room before crawling into bed. I was asleep the moment my head hit the pillow. Back at the bus stop, Todd and Samantha looked about as if they had heard a sudden noise.

"Where's James?" asked Todd. "He's never this late."

"I heard he's pretty sick and called off for the day." said Kate.

"That's too bad." said Samantha. "I hope he gets better soon."

"I'm sure she will." said Kate with a smile.

"She?" asked Samantha.

Kate giggled. "Sorry, I meant 'he'."

Hours later, I woke up to find...
