"Nine feet? I wouldn't have guessed you were an inch over 8 feet!" This caused Amanda to giggle, something she rarely did nowadays; in fact, tonight was the first time since she had hit her massive spurt that she had enjoyed herself this much. Ed just exuded confidence that she only dreamed of having, and it was making her confident in the process. Her thoughts were no longer on the many staring eyes, the gawking, or even the taunting. She actually had to compliment the creativity of someone who had called them the twin towers. Truly, her and Ed were the tallest at the party.
"Oh, please! Just admit it, I am freakishly big." Ed let his eyes travel from her flip flop clad feet to the top of her head as he shrugged.
"Big, sure, but freakishly? No chance. You are literally the most perfect woman I've ever laid my eyes on." Amanda felt butterflies in her stomach at that moment. BUTTERFLIES. She'd never felt that since she had the hots for a boy back in, what, the sixth grade? And he was hitting on her!
"You really think so?" Ed nodded enthusiastically.
"Amanda, are you kidding? Look at you, you're like a Greek goddess who descended from Mount Olympus. Anyone in this party should be killing to get with you." Amanda couldn't hide how red she was now. What an odd sight it must have been. A woman so tall that she had to bend her neck to stand straight in the room sitting on a too small couch with a man squeezed next to her. That tall woman looked more red than a cherry tomato, and the child looking figure next to her couldn't stop smiling.
Despite how perfect Amanda felt, her anxiety crept in when she realized what position she was being put in now. This had happened in class during her freshman year: a boy she liked had hit on her and got her blushing, and just then the whole class got pictures of her. 'The Jolly, Red Giant' is what they called her. Ed might be doing just that...
"Hey...um...I gotta go." She barely explained anything as she got up. Her head struck the ceiling and she muttered a curse under her breath as she pushed past giggling party-goers. She was on the front lawn a moment later when she heard someone call to her.
"Amanda! Hey, what the heck. Please, tell me what I did wrong. I'm sorry if I came on too strong." She turned to see Ed jogging after her. He stopped a few feet away as she stood next to the truck she had been transported in. "I swear, I genuinely like you and I think it would be cool if I got your number. Is that okay?" Amanda could only stare. He was being genuine. At least...he seemed to be. Would giving her number out really hurt? Just then, Sarah and Becky ran out, drunk but ready to defend their amazonian friend.
"Hey, back off from her, creep!" Sarah ran between Ed and Amanda while Becky fell over in the lawn after trying to run. "She hears enough of your jokes-"
"No, girls, this is Ed. He was giving me his number."
"I told...wait what?" Sarah said.
"Yeah...I think we'll go out tomorrow too." Ed smiled at her. Amanda gave a goofy grin back as she patted her smaller friend on the head. She wrapped another arm around her and held her tablet sized phone out for him to add his contact info. If he was being legitimate, this would be his test, she figured.
