Chapter #3
Follow the barmaid upstairs
by: Unknown
You decide to follow the barmaid upstairs.
You make little noise as you follow her up the stairs to the second floor and down the hallway.
Without looking back, she opens a door on the right and walks in. You step inside behind her before she has a chance to close the door. She looks at you in shock and quickly backs away.
“Who are you?! What are you doing in my room?!”
The woman seems more angry than fearful. As she prepares herself for a possible struggle, you get your first good look at her.
She was tall and curvy in all the right places. Her blond hair flowed past her shoulders and her face had a softness to it that contrasted with the evil look she was now giving you. No doubt about it, she was beautiful. Unfortunately your reverie was broken by seeing her grab a nearby broom and hold it defensively.
“Peace, my lady” you say; putting your hands in front of you in an unthreatening manner. “I only wish to know about the disappearances that plague this land.”
Her defenses don’t waver for a second.
“I don’t care why you are here! Leave immediately or I’ll beat you unconscious and drag you out myself!”
Sweet girl. In her defense, you were being rather intrusive. Maybe she just wasn’t worth the effort. Then again, it may be possible to convince her your cause is just, without resorting to physical violence. On the other hand, perhaps violence is the only thing that will loosen her tongue. You eye her up and down; she may look tough, but you think you can take her without too much trouble…
