"Oh, good sir/my lady!" The noble ran straight to you, smiling and looking incredibly relieved. "You found my amulet! The mistress Anastasia will be so happy!" He said, swiping it out of your hands. "I don't know how, but I must have dropped it. It's a precious family heirloom that needed to be re-enchanted for m'lady Anastasia." He explained.
You knew of the Lady Anastasia. She was about your age, and was incredibly sweet. She was the de facto ruler of this area, and a distant relative of the King of Rylestia. Many wished she were the Queen instead. While she was very cheery, she never seemed to ever laugh, which some found odd. "This amulet, I should tell you, is something she wears in private. I know it sounds silly, but it seems it's the only way to make her laugh. Her father owned it before he passed. Good sir/ fair lady, wherever did you find it?" He asked, grinning at you.
If he was talking about Anastasia, it told you he was King Jerris, her most faithful servant. He was almost as kind as Anastasia, but was sadly also rather naive, which explained why he so easily assumed you were a good Samaritan. You quickly told him you found it on the ground and was about to ask around if anyone had lost it. Knowing he wasn't THAT naive, you also admitted sheepishly that you did want some small reward upon returning it. He nodded his head and quickly dumped a small sack of gold in your palm. "Here, here! You deserve it! And more! Two hundred gold pieces simply isn't enough!" He said.
You nearly did a double take. Sure, that wasn't a lot for a rich person, but for a thief, they could live off this for two years! However, King continued. "I insist, good sir/ fair lady, that you come with me an accompany Anastasia and myself to tea." Anastasia was known for often letting the common people dine with her, no matter how poor, should they do a good deed. "And, even further, you may see it in action!" He said, indicating the amulet.
You couldn't believe your luck. Before you knew it, you were suddenly within Anastasia's lush, comfy housing. She tried to be as modest as possible; while the building was the largest in the city, it was only three floors and looked only slightly better than most buildings on the outside. The inside was a little less modest, with chandeliers and paintings, but by royalty standards, it was bare. You were quickly led into a sitting room by King. "Now then, feel free to walk around and see the sights, but please be here by tea time. If not, we'll have to look for you, you must understand." He said, leaving the room.
