Before opening his eyes, Mark knew where he was. He could feel the cold support beams that help up the 'bed' within the sleep unit. He decided to remain still, and wait, keeping his eyes closed.
A pair of beeps went off, and Mark's vision was suddenly shaded with a tint of green. Some gears turned, and he could hear the arms of the sleep unit recede in front of him. He moved his arms to bring them out of pod, but found them still restrained. He open his eyes, only the upper bars had receded, leaving his head exposed, but his body trapped. A green light was overhead, under it, the word 'wake' was illuminated in orange. Shortly after, one of the suited men entered the room and approached Mark's sleep unit. He said nothing, and merely reached in and grabbed Mark's head. With his gloved hands, he opened Mark's eye wide and then took something out.
Mark reacted to the light by turning away, but he could still see it since the man was holding his eyelid open, so he had to turn his eyes. The man remained still for a few seconds, then did the same with Mark's other eye. Afterward, he grabbed Mark around the jaw and shifted his face. Mark glared at him, but unsurprisingly it had no effect. The man then stepped back, and put his hand in his pocket in a very deliberate manner so that Mark would see. The sleep unit opened and Mark stepped out, immediately noticing that he was nearly fully healed.
"A good show we're looking forward to more!"
Mark recognized that voice, he looked to the left, and sure enough the scientist who appeared to lead this madness was casting his filthy smile.
"Keep it up, you could win it!"
After a giving out a quick laugh, he walked off and exited the room. Shock collar or not, Mark was temped to chase him down. He even took a step in that direction, but the suited man reminded him what was in his best interest with a tap on the floor. He then directed Mark to the door. As he passed, he heard another familiar voice.
"It's you!"
On his right was the first person Mark met after becoming a girl, the woman from the large room where all the captives were introduced to their tormentor. She smiled, but there was a scar across her forehead.
"What happened?"
"I don't want to fight. I'm scared of this whole thing. I tried to run away from someone, but.."
The suited man shoved Mark forward, Mark turned to confront him, but he was now holding something that looked like a baton, probably a weapon. Reluctantly, Marked waved to the woman and left.
"I'll look for you when they let me out!"
Mark made a subtle nod. It was his promise to himself to find her.
