Sora and Lightning walked to the exit hatch. Lightning then pressed a button near the door and it began to move. The top of the door lowered itself down to the ground beneath the ship, making a ramp for Sora and Lightning. As the two began to walk down the ramp, Lightning's companions, Vanille and Fang came up to greet them.
Vanille, 19, had bright red, almost orange, hair tied back in curled pigtails, striking green eyes, and both of her ears pierced with small silver hoop earrings. She wore a light pink halter top, a short orange and yellow skirt, and yellow boots. Meanwhile, Fang was a fairly tall woman, standing at 5'9". She appeared to be 21. She had wavy dark brown hair with three thin braids that come together to form one thick braid that hangs behind her left ear, piercing green eyes with a mole underneath the right one, pierced ears adorned with purple claw-shaped earrings, scars on her right arm and shoulder. She wore blue clothing that closely resembled tribal cultures. She also wore a short black top with a row of three horizontally-aligned triangles cut down the middle of the back, two long necklaces, a bracelet, black sleeves over her forearms, multiple bracelets on her left wrist, and, to Sora's delight, tan leather open-toed boots.
"Bout time you got back," snickered Vanille.
"Don't start with me, Vanille," replied Lightning, "You have no idea how hard it was to find him on such short notice." The two others then looked at Sora an observed him.
"So," said Fang, "This is him?"
"Yeah," Lightning said with an exaggeration indicating that Sora wasn't who she expected, "He's the one we need to unlock the cache." Vanille approached him, surprising Sora.
"Ooh, really?" asked Vanille. She gave Sora a cute look of curiosity. "I'm Vanille. Nice to meet you." She extended her hand out to Sora. He shook it.
"I'm Sora," he greeted her.
"This is Fang," said Vanille, pointing her out.
"I presume that Lightning has informed you of our goals?" Fang asked Sora.
"Uh, yeah; I need to unlock a cache," he replied.
"Cool," said Vanille, "Well, all right, let's go get that treasure!"
Sora then walked with the three women up a path surrounded by trees and giant rocks. After a few minutes, they came up to a hidden cave and entered it. To their liking, lanterns were lit inside, lighting the way. As they walked, Sora managed to get a few glimpses at Fang's toes; they were very nice for a warrior girl and even had blue polish. Sora smiled, allowing Lightning to notice. She tapped him in the back of the head.
"Ow!" said Sora.
"Don't get any ideas," whispered an annoyed Lightning. Vanille, who was walking ahead with Fang, heard them.
"Something wrong?" she asked. Sora was caught off guard.
"Oh! Uh..." he uttered.
"It's nothing," said Lightning. With that, Vanille just shook her head and moved on.
A few minutes later, the four of them came across a split in the tunnel.
"Uh-oh," uttered Vanille.
"What?" asked Sora.
"I can't remember which way it was," said Vanille. Vanille was the only one who had been down there.
"Did you bring the map?" asked Lightning. Fang looked at Vanille, who gave a look of disappointment with herself. She shook her head.
"I thought I'd remember," she explained in a sad tone.
"Vanille!" Lightning scowled. Sora saw how sorry Vanille was; it was a mistake. Besides, he had an idea.
"Well, what if we just split up?" asked Sora. The three girls turned to him.
"What do you mean?" asked Fang.
"Well, two goes that way and two goes that way," he explained, pointing at the two directions. "That way, one of us is sure to find the cache I need to unlock."
"Yeah, but what if the group that finds it doesn't have you?" Fang pointed out. Lightning then approached her.
"I'll call you with this," she said, handing Sora a communication device. He nodded in approval. Lightning gave him a faint smile. "I'll go with whoever, you don't."
"Well alright then, let's go," Sora then went with...
